Decking risers carry timber or composite decking joists. They level the joists over uneven or sloping surfaces and keep them off the wet membrane. See decking supports.
Pedestals
Pedestals carry pavers (porcelain, stone or concrete) directly at their corners, with joint tabs for a 2 mm or 4 mm gap. See raised floor pedestals.
Extensions
Extensions add height when the finished floor sits higher than a standard pedestal reaches.
Mixed terraces
Decking around a pool and pavers on the walkways are common, each on its own support, all levelled to one finished height.
