Oil Interceptors for Car Parks and Workshops in the UAE

Car parks, garages, workshops, wash bays and fuel areas all produce wastewater containing oil, fuel and silt. An oil interceptor separates these from the water before it reaches the drainage system, protecting pipes, pumps and the wider network.

How an oil interceptor works

Water enters a chamber where the flow slows down. Oil, being lighter, rises to the surface and is held back, while silt and sediment settle at the bottom. Cleaner water leaves through an outlet set below the oil layer.

Choosing a size

Interceptors are rated by flow, typically in gallons per minute (GPM). Alphatek supplies fabricated PVC oil interceptors in 50 GPM and 55 GPM models with a sediment bucket and an oil drain bucket for easier maintenance. For other flows, units can be fabricated to your drawings.

Maintenance tips

  • Inspect regularly and remove collected oil before it reaches the outlet level.
  • Empty the sediment bucket so silt does not reduce capacity.
  • Use a licensed waste contractor for disposal of collected oil and sludge.

Where they are used

  • Basement and multi-storey car parks
  • Vehicle workshops and service centres
  • Car wash bays and fuel stations
  • Loading docks and industrial yards
