GRP Sediment Buckets

What a sediment interceptor does

A sediment interceptor is a chamber that slows the water down, so sand, silt and grit settle out before the water leaves through the outlet. The sediment collects in the bottom of the chamber or in a removable basket, where it can be lifted out. It is larger than a gully trap, and it is designed for sites that produce a lot of grit.

Where they are needed

  • Vehicle wash bays and car washes
  • Service yards and loading areas
  • Construction and equipment wash-down areas
  • Car park ramps and basements. See Basement Drainage
  • Before an oil interceptor, so grit does not fill it

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a sediment interceptor and an oil interceptor?
A sediment interceptor catches sand and grit. An oil interceptor separates oil and fuel. Many sites need both, with the sediment interceptor first.
Is a sand trap the same thing?
A sand trap is a smaller unit at one drainage point. A sediment interceptor is a larger chamber for sites with a lot of grit.
PVC or GRP?
Fabricated PVC for standard sizes; GRP for larger, made-to-size units.
How often should it be emptied?
It depends on the site. Check it weekly at wash bays and monthly elsewhere, and always after storms.
Can you make a custom size?
Yes, to your flow and space.
Do you deliver outside Dubai?
Yes, across the UAE and to GCC projects.
