Why choose a tile-insert drain

The tray takes the same tile as the floor, so the tile pattern continues across the drain and only a slim stainless steel edge shows. It is the first choice for design-led bathrooms, hotel rooms and walk-in showers.

Which size?

  • 100 mm: small bathrooms and en-suites
  • 150 mm: larger bathrooms and showers
  • 200 mm: wet rooms, spas and balconies with more water

For long walk-in showers, a linear drain may suit better. See Tile-Insert Linear Shower Drain.

316 or 304, and matte or mirror?

AISI 316 is standard and is the better choice for wet areas, pools and coastal projects. 304 is available for dry interiors on a budget. See our SS 304 vs SS 316 guide. Matte suits most modern interiors and hides water marks; mirror suits high-end finishes.

Installation notes

  1. Set the drain body so the tiled tray finishes flush with the floor tiles.
  2. Form the floor falls towards the drain on all sides.
  3. Bond the waterproofing membrane into the drain body.
  4. Cut the tile and bond it into the tray with tile adhesive. Keep the tray removable.
  5. Fill the trap with water after installation.

Odour trap

An inbuilt trap is available, or can be added as an option. In the UAE climate, traps in rarely used bathrooms can dry out, so a trap fitted at the drain is recommended.
