Specifying a roof drain

- Roof build-up – waterproofing, insulation and screed thickness decide the body and extension.
- Clamping ring to hold the waterproofing membrane.
- Strainer type – dome for roofs, flat or heel-proof for walkable areas.
- Overflow – a second outlet or scupper in case the main drain blocks.

Frequently asked questions
Why choose cast iron instead of PVC roof drains?
Cast iron is stronger, fire-resistant and quieter, which suits high-rise and commercial buildings. PVC is lighter and lower cost for smaller roofs.
Do I need an overflow outlet?
It is good practice. If the main drain blocks, the overflow stops water building up on the roof.
Can you supply matching cleanouts?
