What to look for in a water tank cover
- Seal: a gasket between cover and frame keeps dust, insects and washdown water out of the tank.
- Raised frame: on roofs and slabs, a frame that stands above the finished level stops surface water running into the tank.
- Locking: locking bolts keep the tank secure from tampering.
- Material: SS 316 or aluminium near the coast and in humid plant rooms; GRP where metal is not wanted.
- Lift-out or hinged: hinged covers can be made to your drawings for tanks opened often.
Sizes
Common clear openings are 600 × 600 mm and 900 × 900 mm, but tank covers are usually made to suit the opening.
