Getting it right
- Choose heavy-duty gratings and covers wherever vehicles drive, and light-duty only in walkways.
- Put an oil interceptor before the drain joins the main sewer on any site with fuel or oil.
- Use a sediment interceptor in wash bays so sand and silt do not fill the pipes.
- Place a channel across the bottom of every ramp so rain does not run into the basement.
